Overview
( Individual Project )
I created this level, although short, in the Fall of 2022, as an exercise & test of my skills to gauge how far I'd come.
The goal was to test my accuracy & ability in guiding players without forcing them into a rigid path - utilizing level design tactics such as leading terrain, lighting, & landmarks ("weenies"). To that end I didn't create a map layout & adopted a more free-flow workflow.

Level Design Process
I began by creating the terrain, sculpting out all the big features, landmarks, & the path. To make the path more desirable to follow I varied the height - often choosing to lower the terrain rather than raise it - & painted a different material to further signify the change.
I then used an asset pack ( Lowpoly Environment by Polytope Studio ) to decorate & flesh out the surrounding forest environment - rotating & scaling assets to break up repetitiveness.
Once that had been completed I applied post-processing effects, changed the skybox ( Fantasy Skybox by Render Knight ), & updated the lighting. Additionally adding in particle effects to simulate fireflies.
